Like many of you I’m sure, some of my fondest childhood summertime memories are of the few weeks where my sister and I would go stay with our grandparents. One particularly vivid recollection from those visits was getting up early for cereal and Saturday morning cartoons and finding my grandfather doing his morning stretching/exercise routine in his briefs. Isn’t it strange how closely we associate this manner of early morning exercise with the men of a few generations back? I can’t think of anyone I know now who does it that way. He lived a healthy life into his 90s…maybe that was part of the secret.
I found this article on Slate interesting. I’d like to read more about Muller and potentially use myself as a guinea pig for his method.
Well, it seems my claim that my shiny new ladyblood has increased my predilection to Lifetime movies is gaining traction. Just take a look at this fellow:
A Croatia [sic] lumberjack claims he started ‘enjoying housework and knitting’ after he was given a female kidney.
Stjepan Lizacic, 56, from Osijek, is suing his local health authority because he says he’s become a laughing stock. He says his life changed from enjoying heavy drinking sessions with pals to prefering [sic] housework after the operation.
He told local newspaper 24sata: “The kidney transplant saved my life, but they never warned me about the side effects. “I have developed a strange passion for female jobs like ironing, sewing, washing dishes, sorting clothes in wardrobes and even knitting.”
I feel your pain, my burly friend.
Previously, the only information divulged to me about my marrow donor was the following:
Gender: Female
Blood Type: A
Age: 19
Heritage: European
Other: Piercing within the last year
Understandably, I was very excited when the letter below arrived yesterday:

I was surprised to find that English is not her first language. I didn’t really know, but assumed my DNA match would be someone from Scotland, Ireland or the like. Now, who knows? German? Latvian? Dutch? Obviously a country where emoticons are used freely, but which one? I haven’t gotten all the details on what I can ask her and what information I’m allowed to release about myself, but wanted to share the excitement.
